
Nathan A. Boggs, MD, PhD

Dr. Nathan Boggs is an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Allergy Division Director at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University, in Bethesda, MD. He is also a staff allergist immunologist at Walter Reed Medical Center. Dr. Boggs completed allergy immunology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, internal medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, an MD at the Uniformed Services University, a PhD in plant molecular biology and genetics at Cornell University, and a BS at the University of Vermont.
Dr. Boggs leads a research team and laboratory investigating both the impact of KIT mutations on different clinical phenotypes and the role of tryptase in chronic urticaria. The research team combines next generation sequencing with laboratory-based functional testing to link genotypes with phenotypes. Dr. Boggs is the site principal investigator on multiple investigational product clinical trials for systemic mastocytosis at Walter Reed including: NCT05186753, NCT06915766, and NCT04655118. He developed a Tricare screening and diagnosis registry to reduce the time to diagnosis and improve the care of patients with systemic mastocytosis. Dr. Boggs also developed clinical and research collaborations with ARUP labs and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center.
